WEDDING / CATHY + NIK

The day began on an Autumn afternoon in country Victoria, at the charming rustic property of the Groom. I was the second shooter at this wedding, so certainly less pressure than normal. But as I looked around at the rolling hills, cascading willow tree and serene pond that was the backdrop for the country ceremony, I was so excited about the afternoon ahead.

I arrived at the Bride’s room where there was a healthy buzz of nerves. With the Bride deciding to do her own hair and make up, there were less bodies in the room, but the energy was still high. The Bride’s daughter practising her walk down the aisle, the Mother of the Bride providing the sound reassurance and calm that every mother should and the Maid of Honour on hand to help with any little detail needed.

As the guests started to arrive, the Bride anxiously rehearsed her vows. Watching her desire to make every single second of the ceremony completely prefect for the man of her dreams was a beautiful thing to see. Her hands trembling as she held the words, but a quick dash of liquid courage (also known as Bowmore single malt whiskey) bouquet in hand, and she was ready to wed.

As the rays the afternoon sun broke through the clouds and shone through the branches of the willow tree and the cello started to play, the ceremony began.

The ceremony was short but full of laughs, their vows heartwarming and intertwined with stories of their life together. Everything was perfect, from the muffled giggles of the playful flower girl, to the tears of joy in the guests eyes.
